This Blog is an attempt to record their highs and lows and to make more people aware of this fascinating bird! The Peregrine Falcon is 'the fastest animal on the planet' - fact!

This is SHE!
Interestingly today SHE was quite willing to let Dad do a bit of sitting! They changed over without a fuss and she then went and did a bit of preening before going off to hunt. Everything looks fine but no sign of chicks yet! Watch this space!

Things are looking good with my new Peregrines!
This new pair of birds that I've found near Bewdley appear to be doing everything right so far. The nest is facing north east which I understand to be perfect for them!
The male perches near by for a large part of the day keeping a close eye on his mate who is sitting on the nest. He can be seen chasing off any potential predators when he deems necessary and it's also a chance for him to loosen up a bit and have a fly round. Only this morning he saw off what looked like another Peregrine or it may have been a Hobby I'm not sure. Unfortunately I couldn't get a shot of the action as it was obscured by trees.
From what I'm told by the local farmer I imagine the eggs should be due to hatch any minute so I'm keeping a close eye on things now for the next few days. The male tried to get the female to come off the eggs so that he could do his bit this morning but she was having none of it! My granddaughter Sofia has already seen them yesterday with me and wants to go there straight from school tonight (she definitely takes after her Granddad).

Another couple are found near Bewdley!
Very recently I was alerted to the possibility that there was another pair nesting near Bewdley. I had to check this out thoroughly because not all reports are genuine. Well yes this one is and I'm pleased to say that things are looking quite promising.

The nest has failed!
Sorry to disappoint everyone but the nest hasn't worked! I don't know why but I guess that's nature for you! They are still around however and well worth a look when you are passing!
