They are mating very frequently!
The Peregrines that many of us have been watching over recent weeks are trying hard to have a family! I've been watching and photographing them for a few weeks and I am amazed how close they are and indeed how often they are copulating. I just love to hear their greeting calls to each other when they meet up and the way that they circle the chimney home before landing. The flight outline of a Peregrine Falcon is beautiful to us but strikes fear into all other birds!

DeleteHi they mated 4.15pm wed 1st March. Female was sat for an hour today 4pm ..preening. Shes a gd size. 4 ish seems a good time to view.
DeleteStill very early days but thanks for notifying me! Lets hope that it comes to fruition?
DeleteI'm past there most days so will keep you updated. What do you mean by not allowed to stay?
ReplyDeleteI believe they have previously been driven off by the Weavers Warf Management/Frankie and Bennies!
ReplyDeletewell the only way to deal with that is up the birds profile early on with local press (which I know can have a negative affect) and write to frankie and bennys head office outlining the law and pointing out the positive advertising for their restaurant as these truly awesome birds are gracing their chimney....maybe create the peregrine observers menu..... I did notice a falconry van parked in tescos carpark for a while today don't recall the company name.. it advertised birds on it and also bird control

ReplyDeleteSaw the pair onthe chimmney yesterday. As far as i can see there is no suitable place on the outside of the chimmney for them to nest as no suitable ledge. Is there a ledge inside the chimmney? I think it would be a good idea to offer them a box to nest in.
